Bonnie Butler Emery, 62, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 in Greenwood.

Bonnie Lee Butler was born in Putnam County, the daughter of Maynard (Buck) Butler and Betty Chadd on Sept. 12, 1945. She was raised on the Butler farm on the Belle Union Road, where she spent her youth.

She graduated from Fillmore High School in 1963. Bonnie married Paul Emery in 1981 and he died in 1988.

During her adult years she worked at P.R. Mallory Co. and Marsh Supermarket. She and Paul owned Happy Tails Pet Shop in Greencastle.

After Paul's death Bonnie moved to Greenwood, where she was cared for during a long illness by her good friend, Janette Mathena. During this period, she also gained a love for Janette's children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Jones; granddaughters, Aleea and Sunshine all of Greencastle; her sister, Suzanne Snyder and husband, Jim of Indianapolis; niece Teresa Granberry and husband, Tom; great-nephew, Jordan Granberry; nephew Jason Snyder; and a great-niece, Katlyn Snyder all of Indianapolis.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stilesville Cemetery, where Bonnie will be laid to rest with her husband and many Butler relatives.

Bonnie was a direct decedent of John Butler, one of the first settlers of Putnam County.
