Alumnus to give reunion address
Michael T. O'Hair, current associate dean for engagement at Purdue University and a member of the Bainbridge High School class of 1962, will be the featured speaker at the 94th annual Bainbridge High School Alumni Association banquet on June 28.
The event will take place at the Bainbridge Community Building. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the buffet dinner following at 6:30 p.m.
O'Hair grew up near Morton and now resides in Kokomo. He is the son of Gale and the late Dorothy O'Hair, and is married to the former Sharon Seward of rural Rockville. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
Following high school, O'Hair attended Purdue University, receiving both A.A.S. and B.S. degrees. He received his master's degree from Western Michigan University and an education doctorate from Indiana University, and is now a professor of electrical and computer engineering technology at Purdue.
Through the Purdue College of Technology on the university's main campus and 10 locations around the state, O'Hair leads efforts to strengthen economic development as a part of the Land Grant mission of Purdue University. Engagement at Purdue focuses on building mutually beneficial partnerships with business and industry, K-12 schools, local and state government in Indiana, across the country and around the world.
O'Hair's distinguished career has included publishing and presenting 30 papers at state, national and international conferences as well as serving as the editor for the Journal of Engineering Technology. In 2006 he received the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) James H. McGraw award for outstanding leadership in engineering technology education and was elected a Fellow of ASEE last year.
He is a member of the Kokomo Rotary Club and has been on the Board of Directors for the Kokomo Chamber of Commerce.
Classes to be honored this year at the banquet include: 1948, 1958 and 1968. Class speakers scheduled are Gene Pruitt of New Palestine; Mildred Tippin Rusk of Terre Haute and Norm Steele of Indianapolis.
