Chelsea Clark, left, models a zebra print coat her mother Sandi made for her. Chelsea will model the coat during the Adult Open Class Style Show at the Putnam County 4-H Fairgrounds on July 23.

Sandi Clark loves to sew.

She sews for her family and has made it a point to teach her teenage daughter Chelsea how to sew.

Clark will be a participant in the 2008 Putnam County Showcase of Fashion Contest -- a precursor to the Indiana State Fair.

To be eligible for local prizes or to go on to the Indiana State Fair Showcase of Fashion Style Show, participants must enter their projects for pre-judging, which will be held at the Putnam County Extension Office on Monday. Contestants may register beginning at 6:30 p.m., and judging will begin at 7 p.m.

The competition is open to any Putnam County resident 18 or older. The contest adheres to the rules and guidelines of the Indiana State Fair Showcase of Fashion.

Registration forms are available at the Putnam County Office of the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service.

Any adult who enjoys sewing and has a project they would like to show off is also invited to the Showcase of Fashion Style Show, which will be held July 23 during the morning hours of Family Fun Day at the Putnam County 4-H Fair.

The event is being coordinated by Tara Baugh and Marsha Arnold, and is open to the public.

Clark has managed to pass on the sewing gene to her daughter. Chelsea will compete in the 2008 Putnam County 4-H Fair Fashion Review.
