EGGERS

Ora "Orie" Eggers, 90, of Greencastle died on Monday June 30, 2008.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1918 in Putnam County to William Franklin and Lela Alice Allgood Eggers.

Mr. Eggers served his country in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Lone Star Industries as a truck driver, and was known for his fudge which he sold as Grandpa's Fudge at the Senior Center, Berry Street Festival and the Putnam County Coin Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eva; son, Ronnie; sisters, Veda Smith, Irene Wolfenbarger, Elsie Eggers, and Panzy Ralston; and a brother, Bill Eggers.

Surviving are his daughter, Nancy McCammack and husband, Richard of Greencastle; sister, Lela M. Hedge and husband, Howard of Roachdale; grandsons, Ivan McCammack of Greencastle, Kevin McCammack and wife, Jill of Fillmore and Neil McCammack and wife, Jyme of Cloverdale; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with Military Honors by the U.S. Army will be held on Thursday July 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Williams officiating.

Memorials in Orie's memory may be made to the Putnam County Senior Center.
