  • Why not take the fireworks out to the sports park in respect to folks trying to get to work at 11pm and folks that have to get up early the next morning and do a 10 or 12 hour shift the next day?

  • They've had it at the park for as long as I remember. It's convenient for people with children to walk from their homes and spend quality time with their friends and family. If you don't like it, leave early next year for work.

  • I know of someone that did leave early for work and was so late getting to work by llpm. I work 12 hour shifts and have to get up at 4am. It doesn't help that we are now an hour ahead and takes so long to get dark for the fireworks. Try working in a job that you have to get your sleep by being in bed at 8pm to get up at 4am and in a job where you have to be alert and watch your back for 12 hours. Other factors is all the town people set off fireworks so I had neighbors using illegal fireworks but guess that makes it alright. The sports park would be a better choice. It has not always been in the park.

  • I have never been to the fireworks in Greencastle. We originally went to Brazil Friday but they were canceled so we hurried to Greencastle so our kids could see them. We go to Brazil every year b/c they truly have one of the best fireworks displays in Indiana. I have to be honest, I didn't think the fireworks here would be that good but I thought, "all these kids have talked about for a week is fireworks" So I thought some would be better than none...I was 100% WRONG! They were very good! WAY TO GO GREENCASTLE!!!! You proved to me that I should not have judged you ahead of time :)

and seriously..so much fuss over one night of the year..to celebrate the birthday of America??? Who cares if we have to leave early or go to bed early, or even be a little sleepy at work the next day? Think of all the sacrifices including their LIVES, people have made so that we can get up and go to our jobs everyday free men/women!!

  • I pay alot of taxes in this county and I am entitled to my opinion.I am not sittin around collecting a check-I am working with dissabilities and I need my sleep.I still say take it to the sports park-probably be safer than in town. Wait till something happens then that is probably what will happen

  • I also pay my taxes in this county, and I also would like to voice my opinion about Greencastle's fireworks. I have taken my kids to Feld's parking lot for the last 4 years to watch the fireworks. We were so disappointed this year. The ground display was probably awesome, if you were at the park. For those of us who decide to not fight the crowd because we have kids, it was very disappointing. I pay my taxes, I donate to the firework fund, and it is a tradition with my family that started over 20 years ago. I have never been so disappointed.

  • I think that the City of Greencastle does a wonderful job with the fireworks and the birthday party at the park and it should stay right where it is ! Happy Birthday America! Happy Birthday to you!
