Water service halted

Friday, July 25, 2008

The Greencastle Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants in Greencastle beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, July 28, 29 and 30.

Beginning on the northwest side of town, they will work their way south and east until all the hydrants are flushed.

"We're making sure they all work and getting rid of any discolored water," said Assistant Superintendent of Utilities Edwin Phillips.

The water crew will begin flushing hydrants each evening at 7 p.m. and work until midnight. Phillips hoped to have all of them done in the three days but says they will continue on the 31st if necessary.

Anyone who has problems related to flushing the hydrants can call the water utility office at 765-653-2638.
