PUTNAMVILLE -- A Bloomington woman was arrested Friday after attempting to visit an offender there using false identification.

Suzanne Diaz, 34, was charged with criminal trespassing and false informing, both misdemeanors.

When Diaz presented the false identification she was recognized by correctional officers at the prison, a release from Putnamville public information officer Alisia Lawrence said. Internal Affairs staff was notified and the Indiana State Police were called.

Diaz left the facility, as officers were unable to detain her. Indiana State Trooper Duan McFadden stopped Diaz's vehicle on U.S. 40, where she was apprehended.

"I commend the staff, said Phil Slavens, assistant superintendent of re-entry at Putnamville. "Due to their vigilance, we were able to prevent a visitor from engaging in criminal behavior from entering our facility."
