William Strother

Mr. William Henry Strother age 75 of Plainfield passed away Thursday morning at his residence.

Born May 16, 1933 in Putnam County, IN., he was the son of Joseph E. & Ruth Catherine (Boswell) Strother. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School "Class of 1951". He married Evelyn Jane (Arnold) Strother on May 18, 1956 and she survives.

Mr. Strother was an United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War and serving twelve years in the National Guard.

He retired in 1994 from Allisons Division of General Motors, Indianapolis, after 29 years. He was a member of the Christian Church, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the North American Fishing Club.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Julie Herrick & husband, Jon of Plainfield, Wm. Henry Strother II & wife, Carol of Newnan, GA., Brian Strother & fiance' Linda Tremble of Greenwood, Jamie Sage & husband, Charles of Greencastle, Bradlee Strother & wife, Laura of Crawfordsville, and Rita Jo Wooldridge of Plainfield; a sister, Carol Magness & husband, Bob of Greencastle; grandchildren, William H. Strother III & wife Kayla, Prisca Strother, Billie Jo Leath, Jackie Lee Rinberger III & wife Gina, Christopher Rivers & wife Amber, Darrin Strother & wife Sarah, Dallas Strother & wife Jennifer, Charles R. Sage II, Elizabeth A. Sage, McGwire Strother, Dawson Strother, Jamie Wooldridge & wife Jobina, Brent Wooldridge and Kristina Payton & husband Jake; Great grandchildren, Rachel Leath, Jonathan Leath, Leo Strother, Layla Rose Strother, Mary Jo Strother, Ryan Joseph Strother, Cole Rivers, Cameron Rivers, Cody Rinberger, Sidney Wooldridge, Adyson Payton, Bailey Payton, Cody Payton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; two sisters, Letha Alspaugh & Madonna Longdon, a son, Richard Wooldridge, 2 grandsons, Brian Wayne Strother and Johnny Wooldridge.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Strother and Pastor Jimmy Cain officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Brick Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 PM on Saturday.
