Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Richard Humbles, 21, Brownsburg, was booked at 10:20 p.m. Monday for theft.

Jonathon Matt, 28, Fillmore, was booked at 11:03 p.m. for operating while suspended.

Anjali Cohen, 18, Greencastle, was booked at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday for neglect of dependent and possession of alcohol by a minor.

William Grogan, 31, Cloverdale, was booked at 2:02 a.m. for non-support of a child.

Sheriff's Department

Three accident reports were turned in recently at the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

On Aug. 9 at 8:10 a.m. Lester Williams, 64, Indianapolis, was on U.S. 36 East when he fell asleep at the wheel and flipped his truck.

Damage was estimated between $10,000 - $25,000.

On Aug. 11 at 7 a.m. Floyd Wiggs, 71, Cloverdale, was on U.S. 40 East when a deer ran out in front of him and he was unable to avoid hitting it.

Damage was estimated between $1,000 - $2,500.

At 8:25 a.m. Linda Owens, 59, Fillmore, was approaching CR 300 South on US 231 when she said a vehicle entered the roadway causing her to swerve off the road and hit a tree head-on. The other car was never located.

Damage was estimated between $5,000 - $10,000.
