Fire damages Greencastle day spa

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Just days before it was scheduled to go up for sherriff's sale, Greencastle's Victorian Day Spa caught fire Tuesday night, causing an estimated $40,000 to $60,000.

Fire Chief Bill Newgent told the Banner Graphic that a cause for the fire has not yet been determined, but it appeared to have started on the backside of the building just before 9:30 p.m. A caller reported seeing flames coming out of the house on South Jackson Street, across from Alex Alleys.

As of presstime, firefighters from Greencastle and Cloverdale were still on the scene making sure the fire didn't reignite.

"It's what we call a balloon structure, meaning there is no fire stop all the way to the attic," Newgent explained. Had the fire reached the attic, it could have been much worse, he said.

Newgent said the investigation would continue on Wednesday.

It's not about the way the posts go, sometime as in this article it changes it's content as the Early Morning Hours goes. This article was written different at Midnight Tuesday than what you read later in the morning. Actually before 1 am and again later. So the posts will sometime not match up with the article.

Also my guess is all the posts gets pulled when a Lawyer gets involved with action to the Banner?

I already have in the comments on another recent story. Once is enough to prove my point I would think, but if you really need to know it then go find it.

Anyway, I'm a progressive liberal who lives in Indiana so I'm not winning any popularity contest as it is. And I like it that way. So it makes no difference to me if peeps know my name or not. I have nothing to hide, but plenty to say...

Why don't you post your "real name" sonic filter?

I'm with climberguy. If you negativity nutjobs would get off your high horse and quit with the personal attacks, then the BG would quit taking down comments on certain stories. Anyway, it sounds to me like persons of questionable character are just taking shots at someone they have had an issue with. But if that is not the case, then just post your real name with your next personal attack and let your peers judge your character. And then we will see how you handle a taste of your own medicine.

why is everyone always so negetive about everything in this town! The article in no way suggests it was arson! It mearly states it was going to be going up for sherriff sale.

And what the heck QueenBee, how does this have ANYTHING to do with the whole Frisbie deal? I'm sick of hearing about that whole thing anyway. He'll do time just like George Alexander give it up; you complaining about it isn't going to make it any better!

You people need to get a life and quit trying to turn everything negetive. If you don't like the way the Banner Graphic writes the news then get the Hoosier Topics or just watch CNN.

I really don't like the tone of this article. So, it's ok for the BG to hint that there is something fishy about this fire, but yet they disable all the comments about Frisbie? How is this fair. It's ok for everyone to say horrid things about GPD,CTVFD,GFD, and now a victim of fire, but don't say anything about the man who PLEAD GUILTY!

The owner of the Day Spa is one of the most caring women in the world. She has helped my family several times. She is a hard working, honest person, and she would not have anything to do with a fire. Anyone that knows her can tell you what a great person she is.

JUST BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME CROOKED PEOPLE IN GREENCASTLE DONT DOWNGRADE THE WHOLE TOWN. GIVE THEM A BREAK!! THE WORLD IS NEGATIVE ENOUGH!!

Why do you think it was going up for the Sheriff's auction again?

-- Posted by whodouthinkur on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, at 7:15 AM

Well, we all know that life it way too good for someone to start a fire on purpose, but the way this world is turning out the unthinkable has become the expected, and the unexpected is just a day away. I doubt anyone will be pointing any fingers, I certianly wont be, Frisbie wouldnt ever do this im sure of it. He far too much of a good guy. But im sure theres gonna be some washed up critic out there that will......

So is the the assistant editor saying that it may have been started on purpose? The tone of this article implied that it might have been. I can't wait for the Banner's account on how this turns out. :)
