Robert L. Cummings, 83, of Indianapolis, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 at his residence.
Born March 29, 1925, in Quincy, he was the son of Jesse Gale "Pete" and V. Omadean (Hart) Cummings. He married Nola Jane (Dunkin) Cummings on Feb. 14, 1944.
A graduate of Quincy High School, he was a chrome plater at Westinghouse Air and Brake Company, Indianapolis, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of Indianapolis; a son, Kirby Cummings and wife Peggy, of Indianapolis; sisters, Dolores Bowman, of Gosport, Florence Dunkin and husband Eben Leon "Bud," of Indianapolis, Betty L. Barnes, of Cloverdale, Judy Whitaker and husband Harold, of Cloverdale, Sherrie Sandy, of Cloverdale, and Linda Sample and husband Mark, of Plainfield; brothers, Howard Cummings and wife June, of Indianapolis, Rex Cummings and wife Lola, of Gosport, Ronald Cummings and wife Gaylee, of Spencer, William Cummings and wife Sharon, of Indianapolis, and Stanley Cummings and wife Bev, of Plainfield; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patricia Coons and brothers Richard Cummings and Donald Cummings.
There will be private graveside services at Combs Cemetery in Quincy. Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, is handling arrangements.
