CMS volleyball defeats Speedway, NP

The Cloverdale eighth grade volleyball team beat two teams Monday night, defeating both Speedway and North Putnam.

In the first game the Clovers defeated Speedway in two games, winning 25-14, and 25-22.

The Clovers were led by Justeena Wellington with 12 points, and seven kills. Next was Bradanne Toney with 11 points and three kills. Followed by Toney was Brisky Skiles with eight points and 14 assists, and Paige Gruner finished it off with seven points and 12 assists.

The Clovers coach said their service game was good but serve receive started to haunt them late in the second game.

In the Clovers second match they defeated North Putnam 25-17, and 25-19 to win their second match of the night.

The Clovers were again led by Wellington with 12 points and seven kills. Toney was next with 11 points and four kills. Next was Skiles with eight points and 12 assists. And Gruner finished it off with seven points and 19 assists.

The Clovers coach said they struggled off and on with serve receive but always fought through for the tough play, also saying they had a good night overall.
