ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam volleyball team hosted Cascade Thursday night, falling to the Cadets in three games, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19. In spite of the loss, Cougar coach Jill Schreiber saw some good things from her team.
"I feel like we played with Cascade and gave them a good match. I cannot be more proud of the girls tonight," Schreiber said. "We were moving, talking and just overall played well.
"We are at the point now, if we can play like this for the rest of the season, we will give many good teams some problems," she added.
Logan Doyle had a nice night for the Coguars, leading the way with seven kills and 11 digs. Taylor Alles had three blocks, including one stuff, and Megan Gray had 10 assists.
Schreiber was happy with the way her team adjusted to in-game adjustments, something they might have struggled with previously.
"I changed up the defense in the middle of the first game, and the girls responded well. They went to the position and knew what they were doing," the coach said. "I changed the lineup in the second game and they responded well; all the girls put for effort, played as a team and did everything we have practiced."
The coach was mostly thrilled with the way her squad competed with a veteran Cadet team.
"In the locker room I told the girls it was a loss, but a good loss," Schreiber said. "We played a tough team that has been playing with each other for a couple years and we proved to ourselves we could compete with a great team."
