Ruth E. Hobbs, 79, of Greencastle, died Sept. 20, 2008 at Putnam County Hospital.
Born Feb. 1, 1929 in Rush County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Fannie Mae (Redd) Stevens. She married Clyde Hobbs on Jan. 16, 1946 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1993.
She worked for several manufacturing companies during her working years, the latest one being Continental Kitchen. She was a member of Grace Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Hobbs, of Shelbyville, and Scott Hobbs, of St. Paul; three daughters, Brenda Brewer and husband Tom, of Cloverdale, Peggy Carrier and husband Dwight, of Fairland, and Leigh Ann Hobbs, of Cloverdale; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Stevens, of Shelbyville.
Her second husband, Danny Elmore, sister Mary Stevens and a grandchild also preceded her in death.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Calling is 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
