Steven Ray Swaim, Jr. 35 of Brazil died due to injuries following an accident on Hwy 59 N. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008.

He was born May 11, 1973 in Vermillion County the son of Steven Swaim, Sr. and Rebecca Koch Swaim. He graduated from Rockville High School and also attended Vincennes University.

He had worked in the past for Koch Farms; Great Dane; Miller Pipe line; Brambles; Hancor, and then in January of 2008 he found the job of his dreams at Altra Ethanol, Inc. in Cloverdale. He really enjoyed working at the ethanol plant as a material handler.

On July 1, 1995, he married Jennifer Simonson Swaim. Together they rounded their family with the addition of their daughter Alexandria Swaim. Steve loved being "Daddy".

Steve was very much the outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter, especially deer, turkey and rabbits. He also enjoyed camping and boating.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ray Swaim and his step-grandfather Benjamin Adams.

Survivors include his wife and daughter Jennifer and Alexandria Swaim of Brazil; mother and step-father Rebecca and Ben Adams of Dana; father and step mother Steve Swaim, Sr. and Carol; mother in law and father in law, Keith and Betty Simonson; grandparents, Mary and Joe Koch of Brazil, Martha Ransom, and step-grandmother Delores Adams of Terre Haute; sister Stephanie Stover of Brazil, Laura Thomas of Dana and brother Josh Swaim of Waveland; step sister Jami Case; sister in law, Julianne Moss and husband Terry of Cadiz, KY; brothers in law, Rick Simonson of Plainfield and Chris Simonson of FL; nieces and nephews, Dillion Swaim, Billie McClain, Christian Stover, Miya Sabla and Stormy Swaim; and other extended family and a close group of friends.

Services will be held Thursday at 1:00pm at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8pm and again Thursday prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that monetary donations be directed to an education fund for Alexandria Swaim, c/o Riddell National Bank, P.O. Box #340, Brazil, IN. 47834. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
