Farm Bureau offers essay contest

Eighth-graders are eligible for the 2008-2009 Dick Lugar/Indiana Farm Bureau/Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies Youth Essay Contest.

The state winners are recognized with an all-expense paid trip to our nation's capitol. The district winners are awarded a $50 U.S. Savings Bond.

The essay theme for this year's contest is "Working Our Way to Energy Independence."

Contest information and requirements can be obtained from your principal's office.

If additional information is required, the principal or student should contact Indiana Farm Bureau at (317) 692-7830.

All student essays must be mailed to the Farm Bureau County Woman Leader, Beth Evans (who can be reached at 653-2281) by school principals or designated school authorities tp Farm Bureau of Putnam County, 1001 N. Jackson St., Greencastle, IN 46135.

Essays must be postmarked on, or before October 24, 2008.
