Foltz honored by council

North Putnam High School graduate Renee Foltz was recognized by the Town Council of Bainbridge for her outstanding academic achievement and strong community involvement. Council members Bonnie Osborn, Naomi Barker and Richard Cope presented Foltz with a plaque at the monthly town council meeting Wednesday.

The Bainbridge Town Council recognized Renee Foltz, a former North Putnam High School graduate, for her outstanding academic achievement and strong community involvement at Wednesday evening's meeting.

Foltz graduated last May from NPHS with multiple honors including: Valedictorian, Presidential Academic Award, Lilly Endowment Scholarship Finalist and eight semesters High Honor Roll.

She was active in many academic organizations including the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, Spanish Club, Science Academic Team, English Academic Team and Interdisciplinary Academic Team.

She was recognized for her involvement in many philanthropic organizations including Students Against Drunk Driving, Safe Driving Club, High School Heroes, Key Club and a tutoring program.

Foltz received special recognition for her community involvement including Volunteer of the Year Award, Emerging Woman Philanthropist of the Year and "Daughters of the American Revolution" Good Citizen Award.

She also served on Student Council, participated in the Dance Team and was a member of the 2006 IHSAA states Champion Cheer Team.

The council recognized her contributions to her family, school and community.

"We wish you good luck," said Council President Richard Cope.

Foltz is currently attending Purdue University.
