Fall festivities planned at Lieber

CLOVERDALE -- Fall and Halloween festivities will be offered at Lieber State Recreation Area, Oct. 24-26, as the Lieber staff and Friends of Cagles Mill Lake present Gobble-uns Weekend.

On Friday, Oct. 24, fall-color boat rides will be offered at 4 and 5 p.m. Cost is $1 per person.

The limited seating will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Those interested should meet at the boat docks.

Saturday, Oct. 25, is packed with events from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., with pumpkin painting beginning at 10 a.m. ($1 fee per pumpkin). Hayrides from the campground parking lot will be offered from 1-5 p.m., for $1 per person, with readings of "Little Orphan Annie," happening during the same time period.

From noon-5 p.m., a different activity will begin each hour on the hour. The pumpkin rolling contest begins first, followed by decorating Trick-or-Treat bags, a scavenger hunt, campsite-decorating contest judging and the announcement of the campsite-decorating winners and awards.

From 5:30-7 p.m., Trick-or-Treating will take place in the campground.

On Sunday, Oct. 26, there will be a church service at 9:30 a.m. At noon, there will be a Hillbilly Golf Tournament.

The events will take place at the campground entrance. In case of rain, the events will be moved to the Nature Center.

The usual gate fees of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicles will apply.
