Halloween hours set

There are plenty of Halloween Happenings going on around Putnam County this Halloween. Little ghosts and goblins can trick or Treat in Cloverdale from 6-8:30 p.m., 5-8 p.m. in Bainbridge, Greencastle and Fillmore, and 6-9 p.m. in Roachdale.

The Roachdale VFW will also be serving food from 4-8 p.m. and will have a costume parade at 8 p.m. Registration for the parade is at 7:15 p.m.

The annual trick or treat on the square sponsored by Main Street Greencastle will take place on Oct. 31 from 4-6 p.m. Children in costumes are welcome and invited to participate. Treats will include candies and flowers and books.

Last year over 1,000 children paraded around the downtown business district.

Thirty-three businesses are signed up to participate this year. Those businesses taking part in the Trick or Treat event will have a Halloween bag posted in their window or on their door.

The following businesses will take part this year: Los Martinez Mexican Restaurant, The National Center for College Costs (Murray and Associates), Almost Home, Amber Bowers Photography, Banner Graphic, Abstract & Title Guaranty, Inc., Shuee & Sons, Horizon Business Center, Royal title, Martin's Emporium, Dave's heating & Cooling, The Partnership Center and the Chamber of Commerce.

Also Putnam County Family Support Services, Putnam County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Mason Jewelers, Swaps, Treasures on the Square, Putnam County Democrat Headquarters, The Cavern Club, Chief's South by Southwest, Goodwill, Cherokee Sisters, Old National Bank, Fine Print, Bright Futures, Wilson's Photography, Putnam County Republican Headquarters, The Pawn Store, Eitel's Flowers & Gifts, Putnam County Library, Old Skool Free Spirit and the Blue Door Café.

  • Downtown Trick or Treat is Friday and not Saturday night. The Friends of the Library is giving out really cool Halloween bags, along with a free book, for holding all the goodies the kids will get. Stop there first.
