He was born on Dec. 28, 1930 in Brookville, Ind. to Fred and Viola Meyers Rief.
Mr. Rief served his country in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and retired from Cash Concrete after 32 years of service.
His parents; two brothers, Charles Rief and George Rief; two sisters, Dora Rief and Edna Holman; and two sisters-in-law, Hope Rief and Sue Cash preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Judith A. Cash Rief, whom he married on June 5, 1960; two sons, Michael Lee Rief and wife, Mary of Crawfordsville, Kevin Wayne Rief and wife, Kim of Greencastle; daughter, Debra Chandler of Greencastle; two brothers, Percil Rief and Clifford Rief both of Brookville; one sister, Gladys Rief of Brookville; one brother-in-law, Jim Cash and wife Barbera of Greencastle; four nephews, three granddaughters; two grandsons; four great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Rev. James Flater officiating. Interment with Honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
