Tiger volleyball closes regular season with Saturday split

DePauw volleyball wrapped up the home portion of its schedule Saturday by splitting its two matches as it topped Marian (Ind,) by a 3-0 score and lost to Illinois Wesleyan, 3-2. The Tigers are now 23-13 on the season.

DePauw swept Marian 25-22, 28-26, 25-18 and were led by Emily Smith with 16 digs and Ali Smith with 38 assists. Erin Cunningham, Loren Sloan and Adrienne Cobb each totaled eight kills, while Kate Carrico and Emily Smith each finished with two aces.

Illinois Wesleyan took a 25-23, 21-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12 win in the day's final match as the Tigers were paced by Cunningham with 13 kills and Sloan with 12. Ali Smith recorded 48 assists with Carrico totaling 21 digs and Emily Smith finishing with 20. Cobb totaled six blocks.

Illinois Wesleyan defeated Marian by a 22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-14 score.

DePauw faces Austin College on Friday in the opening round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
