Annual art attack set for Sunday

Thursday, November 6, 2008

DePauw University's annual Art Attack is set for Sunday, Nov. 9 from 12:30-4 p.m. in the Green Center for the Performing Arts on the campus.

Children of all ages can take part in Sunday's Art Attack at DePauw's Green Center.

Children of all ages are invited to experience art and borders at the event that will close DePauw's 11-day celebration, "ArtsFest 2008: Art & Borders."

This exciting afternoon of performances, workshops and hands-on art activities has something for kids of all ages. In its seventh year, this popular event provides an opportunity for Putnam County children to learn about art from DePauw students.

The centrally-located Green Center will offer activities organized by student groups, honorary societies, sororities, fraternities and talented individuals who will host the fun-filled afternoon of hands-on crafts.

Participants will have an opportunity to make masks, draw maps of Putnam County, make paper cranes for peace, design their own instruments and create a mural.

Performances will begin at 1 p.m. with the Wamidan Dance Troupe, the singers of DePauwCapella, the DePauw Color Guard, the improvisational theatre troupe unIMPROVable, the DePauw Jazz Band, and more.

Also planned are a poetry workshop, a participatory drum circle, and the ever-popular musical petting zoo. Tours of the Peeler Art Center's gallery and of the backstage area of Moore Theatre will also be operating throughout the afternoon. DePauw's student radio station, WGRE, will be broadcasting from the event offering opportunities for visitors to "be on the radio."

The event is free and open to all.
