"It was a Dark and Stormy Night"
ROACHDALE -- Tim Kelly's "It Was a Dark and Stormy Night" will be presented by North Putnam High School at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday in the school's auditorium.
This play is an old dark house spoof loaded with laughs and thrills. Ye Olde Wayside Inn is a chamber of horrors haunted by the spirit of a soldier who deserted Washington at Valley forge. Living there are three flaky cousins, their Uncle and a hired girl who wandered in.
Cousin Ebenezer is dangerous when it's stormy and he lures victims to the inn to avenge an old wrong. When foul weather forces a hard-nosed detective, an odd salesperson and others who witness a brutal crime to take shelter at the inn.
When the wind howls and lights flicker, things get interesting. And, the audience will ask, "who is that skeleton wearing a bridal veil sitting in the wheelchair."
This hilarious spoof winks at the classic touches: clutching hands, eerie music, a heroine in great danger and a twisted ending.
Other students in the play include Rachel Kolcheck as Olive, Harley Carnes as Dorothy, Brad Kimbler as Ed Perkins, Jennifer Ashmore as Mary Shaw, Brandi Powers as Smilin' Sal, Katylyn Lawyer as Jane Adams, Cameron Ensor as Snell and Rachel Kientz as Euphemia.
Tech crewmembers are Roxanne Long, Emily Haas, Brad Kimbler, David Muck and Justin Nordmeyer.
