Stolen car recovered in Putnam County

Thursday, November 20, 2008

The Brazil City Police Department is looking for information about a vehicle reported stolen from a local car dealership sometime during the weekend. It was recovered Wednesday.

Although details are limited because of the ongoing investigation, officials told The Brazil Times an undisclosed vehicle was reported stolen Monday from Hughes Auto Sales, 1505 E. National Ave.

On Wednesday, shortly before 10 a.m., Putnam County Sheriff's Department Deputy Danny Wallace located the vehicle, which was abandoned approximately three miles east of the Putnam/Clay County line.

Details about the condition of the vehicle were unavailable, but officials at the PCSD confirmed the department is processing the vehicle for return to the BCPD.

There are currently no suspects or motive for the theft, but the investigation is ongoing.

Brazil City Police Chief Dave Archer said the department is asking the public to report information about any strange activity that may have been witnessed at Hughes Auto Sales between Friday evening and Monday morning.

To report information about this case, or any other, contact the Brazil City Police Department at (812)446-2211.

  • In similar news, officials from Quahog City Police department are seeking any information on several stolen pairs of jeans, stolen from a local retail chain, sometime within the last 9 days. Some of the jeans were recovered at a rural yard sale.

This particular investigation is also ongoing, so details are not available. Actually this story shouldn't even be printed, but nothing else is going on so keep on reading.

On Thursday of last week, undercover detectives scattered throughout the state to all yard, garage, and porch sales in a 100 mile radius.

Detective Richard Cranium purchased a pair of Wrangler straight leg, stonewashed jeans with marked $1 dollar bills at a 3 table yard sale near Cunot In.

When Detective Cranium returned after obtaining a search warrant, the County ERT was dispatched for safety purposes but no avail. The suspects apparently were tipped off and eluded law enforcement before they could arrive.

Officials believe that the remaining jeans will more than likely show up at next years festivals in Mansfield.

To report any information on this case, please contact Detective R. Cranium, Quahog Co, 812-555-3236.
