TCU Ribbon Cutting

Monday, November 24, 2008

Teachers Credit Union (TCU) ended its weeklong grand opening celebration Friday with a ribbon cutting.

Located at 57 Putnam Plaza, the company has moved into a larger space and added a convenient drive-through.

Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray, TCU President and CEO Richard J. Rice and Service Center Manager Pam Lage spoke briefly to the crowd assembled.

"I'm very, very proud that I get to work with the people out here," said Rice who added that he was a member of the National Association of Wabash Men.

"So I'm also here with a heavy heart," he laughed referring to the defeat of Wabash College by Greencastle's DePauw Tigers last week.

Rice also thanked Vickie Williams, who was the original manager of the branch when the company first came to Greencastle.

"I don't know that we would even be here if it weren't for Vickie Williams," he said.

Mayor Sue Murray responded to Rice's heavy heart. "As far as Wabash goes, it just shows the determination and effort put in by Greencastle folks," she laughed.

Murray went on to talk about being a member of TCU and how much she appreciated the banking facility.

TCU began in 1931 with a small group of teachers who pooled their savings to lend to others in need of credit. From there the financial institute has grown to be Indiana's largest Credit Union with over $1.8 billion in assets.

They currently have 37 locations throughout the state of Indiana and in southern Michigan.
