Clover wrestlers go 2-3 on the weekend

CLAYTON -- The Cloverdale wrestling team got a big performance from Eldin Hesselgrave and went 2-3 at the Cascade Invitational Saturday.

Hesselgrave went 5-0 on the day and anchored the Clovers in their two wins against Monrovia and Attica.

In the Monrovia win, Hesselgrave (103), Shawn Shipp (112), Donnie Helterbrand (130), Jeff Couse (135), Michael Gramer (145) and Kody Kohler (152) picked up wins for CHS. Also getting wins for Cloverdale were Lee Secrest (152), Matt Hall (171) and Brennan Jepperson (heavyweight). The Clovers scored 53 team points to beat Monrovia's tally of 30.

Cloverdale defeated Attica by capturing a win in all but three weight classes. The Clovers won 60-15.

Picking up wins for Cloverdale were Hesselgrave (103), Shipp (112), Tyler Carrell (119), James Green (125), Helterbrand (135), Couse (140), Gramer (145), Kohler (152), Secrest (160) and Levi Haltom (215).

Helterbrand and Secrest went 4-1 on the day, while Couse, Shipp, Kohler and Jepperson all went 3-2 on the day.

Cloverdale (3-3) will host Terre Haute North at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
