Habitat for Humanity Children's Party

The Putnam County Habitat for Humanity Inc. is still in search of volunteers and donations to make "Lunch with Santa" a special day for all Putnam County families.

We want every child to have the opportunity to have an old-fashioned Christmas," said Habitat for Humanity Board Member Tammy Folck.

The event will be at the Greencastle National Guard Armory on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will feature pizza, cookies and punch, a raffle, face painting, magic show, a balloon artist and Grimace from McDonalds.

Of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting children and sitting for pictures. The cost for photos is $3.

Organizers say that Santa's Workshop will be a highlight of the event. The shop will be full of inexpensive gifts for children to purchase for family members.

"We want kids to be able to buy things and parents too. Everything is under $5 with most of it being around $1," said Folck. "We even have some very special items from the Indianapolis Colts for sale in the shop."

The organization will raffle off several exciting prizes including a boys and girls bicycle, guitar and rug from Fields Carpet.

Grimace from McDonalds will be there to visit with children. There will also be a magic show, balloon animals and face painting.

Habitat officials are thankful for all the donations received so far. They do still need Polaroid 600 film, bows to go on the presents and fruit for goodie bags.

Donations can be dropped off at Putnam County Habitat for Humanity Inc. at 620 Tennessee St., Greencastle. For volunteer information contact 765-653-5360.
