Eagle wrestlers show well at Tri-West

The South Putnam wrestling team had a successful day Saturday at the Tri-West Invitational. The Eagles walked away with a 3-2 record, with their only losses coming at the hands of Speedway and Tri-West.

To get their three wins, South Putnam defeated Scecina, Lapel and Theodore Guerin Catholic.

Chris Hurst had a productive day, going 5-0 in the heavyweight class, while Matt Ballew (135), Antonio Hernandez (145) and Avery Dotson (215) all went 4-1.

Jesse Gardner wrestled his way to a 3-2 record, while Jeff Hunter (103), T.J. Franklin (119), Dakota Ramey (125) and Colton Maynor (140) all had records of 2-3.

The Eagles will compete at the Putnam County Tournament at Cloverdale Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
