Turkey Run State Park Featured on 2009 Indiana Travel Guide Cover

Lt. Governor Becky Skillman has unveiled the cover of the 2009 Indiana Travel Guide featuring Turkey Run State Park in Parke County.

The image shows a family enjoying a canoe ride, one of many outdoor activities available at Indiana's second oldest state park. Turkey Run is best known for its deep canyons and rock formations, creating some of the most scenic and rugged hiking in the state. All four 2009 Indiana travel publications feature new cover photographs including the Travel Guide, Festival Guide, Travel Map and Golf and Travel Guide.

"Turkey Run is one of our most popular state parks," said Lt. Governor Skillman. "And with 750,000 of the Travel Guides in print, the potential to attract new visitors is tremendous."

"What a great honor to have Turkey Run State Park selected for the cover of the 2009 Travel Guide," said Dan Bortner, director of the Department of Natural Resources Division of State Parks and Reservoirs. "We're delighted this park was chosen to showcase the many wonderful state parks we have in Indiana. We hope this helps Hoosiers, as well as visitors from elsewhere, realize the many terrific natural treasures we have."

The Indiana Travel Guide is one of four publications distributed by the Indiana Office of Tourism Development. The other cover locations for 2009 are Festival Guide -- Summer Heat Air Festival, Delaware County; Travel Map -- Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden, Evansville; and Golf and Travel Guide -- Bear Slide Golf Club, Cicero.

All four publications can be ordered online at VisitIndiana.com or by calling 800-677-9800.
