GMS falls to Chargers

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

The Greencastle freshman basketball team fell to North Montgomery 41-35 on the road Monday night.

Falling behind 8-2 early, the Tiger Cubs stormed back to take a 10-8 lead at the end of the first quarter behind eight points and eight rebounds from Jesse Tesmer. However, the lead was short lived as the Cubs were out-scored 10-2 in the second stanza and went into the half trailing 18-12.

After a half-time talk from their coach, Greencastle responded and Ryan Battin hit a fall-away three-pointer at the buzzer, giving GMS a one point lead after three.

The final quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with North Montgomery prevailing. Greencastle was led in scoring by Dustin Law's 13 and Jesse Tesmer's 10.

Greencastle (4-4) travels to Owen Valley Saturday to participate in the OV Freshman Tournament.
