Charles W. Rains

Charles W. Rains, 94, of Greencastle died on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009.

He was born in Francisville on Jan. 22, 1914, the son of William S. and Emma Nitzchke Rains. He married Frances Moore on March 19, 1942, and she survives.

Mr. Rains was a minister for 66 years, serving at various churches in Greencastle, Cloverdale and Indianapolis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Wildwood Evangelical Church.

His is also survived by his children, Sandra Boswell and husband Larry of Mooresville; Vicki Jones and husband Bob of Greencastle and Rita Wiley and husband Gary of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister Frances Stone and husband Charles of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Chandler-Hays Funeral Home in Greencastle with Pastor Larry Boswell officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery.

Calling will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
