South Putnam picks up win

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

The South Putnam girls' basketball team stormed into Riverton Parke Monday and came away with a 10-point win, 41-31. The win moves the Eagles to 7-6 on the season.

Oceaia Boetjer led the team with 16 points, but it was fellow senior Leeah Butts who inflicted the most damage on Panthers. She posted a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, with Jessica Thompson scoring five of her own. Freshman Emily Dabkowski scored four points, Brooke Boetjer two and Jenny Thompson added one.

"Our seniors played big for us," South Putnam head coach Debbie Steffy said. "With the lay-off that we have had, we needed leadership and they provided it."

South Putnam will host Monrovia at 6 p.m. Friday.
