Mavis Spencer, 63, of Crawfordsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at home.

She was born Dec. 30, 1945 in Russellville to Raymond W. and Lillian M. Cox. She married Larry D. Spencer Oct. 20, 1963 in Russellville, and he survives.

Mrs. Spencer was a 1963 graduate of Russellville High School. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Turchi, then worked for the City of Crawfordsville in Nellie Thompson's office. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and was past worthy advisor to the Rainbow Club in Marshall.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Stacia L. Jahnke and husband Kent of Crawfordsville; two sons, Steven K. Spencer and wife Angel of Crawfordsville and Jesse G. Spencer of Denver, Colo.; sister Kay West and husband Jim of Springfield, Ill.; brother Larry "Sonny" Cox and wife Patsy of Carbon; mother Lillian Cox of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death be her father, grandparents, and her husband's parents.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Pastor Zachary Rainey officiating. Burial will follow at Russellville Cemetery. Calling will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
