Cougars get win, Clovers fall to Mounties

CLOVERDALE -- Coming off their second-place finish at the WCC meet on Saturday, the Cloverdale wrestling team ran into a roadblock in the form of the Southmont Mounties Tuesday. The Clovers' dropped the match 49-21.

Cloverdale had five wrestlers take wins on the night. Eldin Hesselgrave (103), Shawn Shipp (112), Donnie Helterbrand (130), Lee Secrest (160) and Matt Hall (171) accounted for the CHS victories.

Cougars get win

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam wrestling team picked up a pair of wins against Rockville and Turkey Run recently. The Cougars defeated the Rox 43-33 and the Warriors 57-18.

Picking up wins in the Rockville match was Tyler Ruble (103), Brian Winslow (112), Joe Mindiola (125), Stacy Hensley (130), C.J. Lofton (135), Tommy Welch (140), Keegan Foltz (160) and Dustin Vires (215).

In the Turkey Run match, North Putnam won all but four weight classes on the night. In addition to Ruble, Winslow, Mindiola, Lofton, Welch, Foltz and Vires, Dillion Bailey (119), Madison McClellan (145) and Randall Cox (285) recorded wins for the Cougars.

Both squads will next be in action at the Avon Sectional next Saturday.
