Roberts joins Identity Hair Design

Lindsey Roberts (left) has joined Identity Hair Design, specializing in nails. She was busy giving Cosmetologist Erica Corbin a touch-up on her nails earlier this week.

Lindsey Roberts has been a go-getter all her life. From directing the Putnam County Cheerleading contest to being fair queen, she gives her all.

Roberts recently graduated from Honors Beauty College and has opened up shop inside Identity Hair Design.

"I waned to specialize in just nails. Even though I love hair and makeup, I wanted to focus on a career in the nail industry. I love being able to make someone feel better by making their nails feel and look healthier," she said.

Roberts attended Beauty College after graduating in 2006 from Indiana State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Family Life.

"I've always wanted to do something with hair and nails. I decided to do this after college--it's never too late to go back," she smiled. "I'm glad I went to college and don't regret it at all. But I love doing this now."

Roberts married her husband Glenn in 2007 and the couple took up residence in Plainfield. But her heart and a lot of family were here in Putnam County. Her house in Plainfield is for sale now and she and Glenn plan on building a new place near her parents home in the Coatesville area.

Her aunt Susie Starr and Tiffany Braeger own Identity and Lindsey spent a lot of time around the beauty shop.

She decided to take the three and one-half month course to become a nail technician. But, typically that was not all she did.

She received the award for the "Highest Servicer In Manicuring" for the months of Oct., Nov. and Dec. at the Beauty College. She also won the O.P.I Scholarship while taking the class.

But she wasn't done there. She completed an additional course at Honors Beauty College that certified her in personal and business development, retail sales, business building and customer service.

"I believe pedicures are my favorite service to do. Feet are not the prettiest part on the body but by having the right nail technician perform an excellent service using nothing but the best products, their feet can look phenomenal," said Roberts

"Having someone come in and say they have the ugliest feet and nothing can make them look good and when I am done they love what they see and have such confidence about themselves. That is a feeling that makes me know I can make a difference in someone's life," she noted.

Her services include manicures, pedicures, polish changes, Paraffin treatments for hands and feet, fill-ins and nail removals. Prices range from $12 to $40.

Roberts is at Identity Hair Design on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. She also does manicures and pedicures by appointment. Identity Hair Design is located at 1360 Indianapolis Rd., Suite H. Call 653-7718 for appointments.
