Sheriff's Department

Robert Buchanan, Greencastle, was traveling north on U.S. 231 at 7:25 a.m. Monday when a deer, running from east to west, ran into the right side of his vehicle. Damage was done to the front fender and door. A vehicle driven by Lisa Moore then struck the animal. Moore stated the animal stood up and ran in front of her vehicle. Neither vehicle was towed from the scene.

Eddie Mannan, Cloverdale, was traveling north on U.S. 231 at County Road 25 S., at 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he ran over a metal object lying in the roadway. The object punctured a hole in his oil pan. Steele's Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $750 to $1,000 in damages.

Kathryne Williams, Roachdale, was stopped on U.S. 36 waiting to make a left turn onto County Road 100 East at 12:25 p.m. Saturday. John Martin, Bainbridge, was traveling on U.S. 36 and did not see Williams' vehicle stopped and struck the back of her vehicle. The collision sent both vehicles to the left side of the road. Kenny's Wrecker Service towed both vehicles from the scene. There was an estimated $1,000 to $2,500 in damages.

Shirley Young, Cloverdale, was traveling north on State Road 243 at 6:27 p.m. Friday when a deer entered the roadway. Young was unable to avoid colliding with the animal. There was an estimated $750 to $1,000 in damages. Her vehicle was not towed from the scene.

Kathryn Jarrell, Greencastle, was traveling south on U.S. 231 just north of U.S. 40 at 4 p.m. Sunday when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions. Her vehicle struck the guardrail; veered across the road; and struck a second guardrail on the opposite side of the road. Jerry's Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Dustin Kennedy, Indianapolis, was traveling on U.S. 231 at 2:37 a.m. Friday. He told officers he did not crash, but his vehicle was pulled to the side of the road due to problems with his water pump. Officers observed Kennedy having trouble standing up and his speech was slurred. Kennedy admitted to drinking alcohol and was read the implied consent warning by officers. Kennedy was transported to Putnam County Jail where field sobriety tests were conducted. Kennedy then refused a chemical test and was booked into the jail. Officers reported evidence at the scene showed Kennedy was southbound and swerved sharply to the left causing his vehicle to slide off the road and strike a fence. Jerry's Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $750 to $1,000 in damages.

Jonathan Cope, Greencastle, was traveling west on Walnut Street at 2:15 p.m. Saturday when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a curve. Upon completing the pass, Cope lost control of his vehicle due to slick pavement. Cope veered into the eastbound lane and was overcorrected. His vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck two trees. The vehicle re-entered the roadway and traveled off to the left and struck a fence. Jerry's Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Vicki Crawford, Danville, was traveling west on County Road 750 North when she rounded a curve and did not see a vehicle traveling east due to a glare from the sun. Crawford was traveling left of center and struck a vehicle driven by Maurice Hobson, Lebanon. Crawford's vehicle damaged the left front bumper and driver's side door of Hobson's vehicle. Neither vehicle was towed from the scene. It was estimated to be less than $750 in damages. The accident occurred at 4:35 p.m. Sunday.

Putnam County Jail

Christopher Tanner, 19, Greencastle, was booked in to the Putnam County Jail at 5:18 p.m. Friday for violation of home detention.

Jeremy Newgent, 31, Greencastle, was booked at 12:10 a.m. Saturday for resisting law enforcement and public intoxication.

Michael Cunningham, 56, Spencer, was booked at 12:30 a.m. Saturday for operating while intoxicated, public intoxication and operating per se.

Jason Young, 38, Greencastle, was booked at 12:56 a.m. Saturday for criminal recklessness, battery and public intoxication.

Dustin Kennedy, 36, Indianapolis, was booked at 3:23 a.m. Saturday for operating while intoxicated.

Dana Couch, 45, Cloverdale, was booked at 9:49 p.m. Saturday for theft, conversion and public intoxication.

Steve Standeford, 48, Martinsville, was booked at 10:20 p.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating per se and public intoxication.

Randall Fenwick, 41, Greencastle, was booked at 8:10 p.m. Sunday for failure to appear.

James Hager, 20, Roachdale, was booked at 8:31 p.m. Sunday for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Jeremy West, 32, Greencastle, was booked at 10:31 p.m. Sunday for failure to appear.

Jeremy Benassi, 24, Fillmore, was booked at 1:05 p.m. Monday for domestic battery.

James Shane, 19, Quincy, was booked at 2:06 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and dealing marijuana within a 1,000 feet of a public park.
