Roy L. Cassady

Roy L. Cassady, 89, formerly of Cloverdale, died on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Regency Manor in Floresville, Texas.

He was born in Cloverdale on July 28, 1919, the son of the late Porter Marcy and Viola Blythe Cassady. He married Bertha June Boswell on Nov. 5, 1954, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1976.

Mr. Cassady was a retired press operator for IBM in Greencastle and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Jacklin Collier of Coolidge, Ga. and Rebecca O'Hern of Staunton; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters Mary Rogers and Mable Wooden and his brothers Carl Clifford "Pat" Cassady and Paul Clayton Cassady.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cloverdale Cemetery. There will be no calling.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitaker Funeral Home.
