Eagles, Cougars earn split

The South Putnam swim teams swam Thursday against North Putnam, with the teams splitting. The girls' team won 88-82, while the boys' team lost 86-71.

Picking up wins for the South Putnam girls were Brianne Botzum in the 200-yard (3:19.13), Ashley Wilson in the 400-yard freestyle (7:39) and Siera Heim in diving (77.95).

North Putnam got nine wins on the night. Accounting for the wins were Tia Scoggan in the 100-yard IM (1:22.13), Halsey Foltz in the 50-yard freestyle (29.75) and the 50-yard backstroke (35.04), Byrd in the 50-yard freestyle (32.78) and the 50-yard breaststroke (40.97) and Molly Wilcox in the 100-yard freestyle (1:11.76).

The 200-yard medley relay of Scoggan, Ellese Cox, Jessica Harper, Autumn McClellen won with a time of 2:27.03, while the 200-yard freestyle relay won in a time of 2:10.63. The 400-yard freestyle relay team also picked up a win with a time of 5:26.89.

The North Putnam boys had seven wins on the night. Getting wins were Taylor Thornell in the 200-yard freestyle (2:52.03), Zach Moore in the 100-yard IM (1:25.63) and diving (138.45) and Sean Hinners in the 100-yard freestyle (1:18.63).

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Hinners, Donnie Drake, Dane Gray and Ben Huber won in a time of 5:32.56, while the 200-yard freestyle relay won in 2:14.36.

The Eagles captured five events on the night. They were comprised of John McCammack in the 50-yard butterfly (38.94) and the 50-yard breaststroke (40.99), Taylor Arnold in the 50-yard freestyle (30.75) and the 50-yard backstroke (34.94).

The 200-yard medley relay team of Arnold, Zeke Evans, McCammack and Ben Albright won in a time of 1:59.09.
