Virgil Anderson, 96, of Plainfield, formerly of Ladoga, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at Danville Regional Rehabilitation.
He was born in Woodstock, Ky. on Sept. 7, 1912 to John and Eva Griffin Anderson. He married Mary Francis Warren on Nov. 27, 1935 and she died on Dec. 15, 1956. He later married Lora B. Brown on Aug. 14, 1957 and she passed away on Dec. 16, 2008.
He farmed in Putnam County for many years. He also was a fur buyer, carpenter and furniture refinisher. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in North Salem.
He is survived by one son, Gerald D. Anderson of Danville; one daughter, Janice McKinney of Louisville, Ky.; one brother, Luther Anderson of Clayton; three sisters, Leddie Littrell of Eubank, Ky., Nellie Barron of Clayton and Tonnie Singleton of King Mt., Ky.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Shelva, Charlie, Chester and Marshall Anderson and two sisters, Laura Petery and Lula Osborne.
Funeral Services will be at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home at 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga on Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Burton officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to time of service.
Burial will be in Woodstock on Thursday, where graveside service will be at 2 p.m.
