South Putnam wins pair

The eighth grade girls' teams from Greencastle and South Putnam faced off against each other Thursday. The South Putnam A-team won 32-8, as the B-team were victorious 31-8.

Mallory Cash and Mattie Varvel led the Eagles' A-team with eight points each, while Jenna Jones had six and Leanna Masters added five. Brittany Birt and Nikki York had two points and Brenly Bratcher chipped in one.

Greencastle was led by Kayla Chadd with three points, with Rebecca Sampson and Colleen Weatherford adding two points each. Abby Mitchell chipped in one point.

Caitlyn Boyce was the Eagles' top scorer in the B-team game, dropping in 10 points. Jones followed with eight points, Kelsey Whitaker with seven and York with four points. Brittany Doolin chipped in two points.

Greencastle was paced by Cash with four points, with Katie Costin and Chadd adding two points each.

Greencastle will face North Putnam at 5:30 p.m today, while the Eagles will host Eminence at 6 p.m. Thursday.
