Putnam County Operation Life, in cooperation with Area 30 Career Center, is accepting applications for its upcoming Spring/Summer 2009 Emergency Medical Technician Basic Course.

The cost of the course is $650 and includes all associated fees. A payment plan is available upon request.

The course is scheduled to begin on March 23 and end July 15.

Classes will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Operation Life Training Room in Greencastle.

All students must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Students who will be 18 years old within six months of completing the course may enroll.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to apply and test for both Indiana and National Registry certification as an EMT-Basic.

Upon becoming certified students would be eligible to seek employment as an EMT or seek advanced EMS training.

Students may also be eligible to apply the training received for 7.5 credit hours of credit at Ivy Tech Community College toward an A.A.S in Paramedic Science.
