Gradie Martin, 81, of Rockville died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in Rockville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 3, 1927 in Litchfield, Ky. to the late Emory Decker and Phoebe Van Meter Decker. Her husband of 48 years, Robert Paul Martin, whom she married Oct. 25, 1945 in Rockville, died May 8, 1994.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker. She was a life member of the American Legion Fellenzer post 48 auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Taylor Post 1752 auxiliary, 40 and 8 auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star Alamo Chapter 498. She was an active volunteer with the Parke County Unit of the American Cancer Society. She was a caterer for many events and was well known for her noodle making.

Survivors include one son, Larry "Dino" Martin and wife Paula of Rockville; six daughters, Kay Foxworthy of Rosedale, Sue Engle and husband Charlie of Bellmore, Laura Dickey and husband Orville of Greencastle, Connie Griffin and husband Henry of Mecca, Janet Cannon and husband Ron of Rockville and Jackie Earnhart and husband Dave of Goshen; three brothers, Hubert Decker of Vincennes, Frank Decker of Raleigh, N.C. and Richard Decker of Tucson, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis "Doc" Martin in 1980; a son-in-law, Gary Foxworthy; three brothers; and a sister.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with Brother Paul Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville.
