Verne Clay Walton Jr.

Verne Clay Walton Jr., 87, North Salem, died Friday, March 27, 2009 at I.U. Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 14, 1921 in North Salem to the late Verne Walton Sr., and Dortha Faye Kendall.

Mr. Walton married Vera Lillian Keal on March 23, 1957. She survives.

He was a member of North Salem United Methodist Church, Veteran's of Foreign Wars No. 3284 Roachdale and the American Legion Post 72 Crawfordsville.

He retired from General Motors in 1981. Hew was a farmer. He also taught Sunday school for 28 years.

Surviving are son Mark Walton and wife Kathy of North Salem; daughters Lisa Anne Harker and husband Kurt of W. Lafayette and Amy Lynn Spencer and husband Stephen of North Salem; brother Charles Walton of Greenfield; and three grandchildren.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at North Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor Anne Spahr officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Porter Funeral Home.
