GHS junior varsity drops a pair of contests

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

The Greencastle junior varsity baseball team dropped a couple of contests last week to fall to 3-3 on the season.

On Monday, the Tiger Cubs lost to Speedway 9-2 in a scheduled five inning contest. After racking up 17 hits against Tri-West, the young Greencastle squad could only muster two against the Sparkplugs. Ryan Battin went 1-for-2 with a single and a stolen base and Joe Lenihan smacked a double.

On Saturday, they traveled to Crawfordsville and came out on the short end of a 9-4 contest. Again poor hitting and untimely errors led to the Tiger Cubs demise as they were held to two hits and committed two errors that led to five unearned runs. Levi App and Lenihan had the only hits for Greencastle. Hunter Mitchell started on the hill and took the loss.

Greencastle (3-3) travels to Monrovia for the second game of a Varsity/JV contest tonight and to Owen Valley Wednesday for a 5 p.m. contest.
