Reelsville man arrested on multiple charges

REELSVILLE -- An investigation into reported stolen merchandise from a Clay County business led to a search warrant being served by members of the Clay County and Putnam County sheriff's departments at a Reelsville residence early Tuesday morning.

Although still in the early stages of the investigation, officials at the Putnam County Sheriff's Department confirmed as a result of the search warrant served at his residence, John Deal, Reelsville, was taken into custody shortly before 3 a.m., Tuesday.

Deal was taken to the jail and booked on preliminary charges of receiving stolen property, dealing in methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a felon and maintaining a common nuisance.

Officials at the Clay County Sheriff's Department confirmed undisclosed merchandise previously reported stolen from an unidentified local business was discovered at the Reelsville residence.

Putnam County Jail personnel confirmed Deal remains incarcerated without bond while awaiting formal court proceedings.

If my memory serves me correctly, this same guy got in some pretty extensive trouble years ago as well.
