Alex, Garl pick up wins in sectional

Thursday, May 7, 2009

The Middle School Bowling Sectional was held last Wednesday, with a pair of local bowlers taking top honors.

The bowlers had to battle not only their competitors, but also some tough lane conditions.

Reggie Alex backed up his Bowler of the Year honor with a sound performance at sectional. Alex bowled a 484 series to win the boys competition.

Mandi Garl bowled a 439 to beat Female Bowler of the Year Alex Hyten, who tossed a 407 series.

All bowlers advance to the regional competition this Saturday in Clinton. Winners from the Clinton Regional will advance to the State Finals in Anderson on May 16.

This marked the first year of middle school bowling and the local conference was one of the largest in the state.
