Cloverdale places second

Friday, May 8, 2009

The Cloverdale High School boys' golf team finished second in a four-way meet Thursday at Rolling Meadows.

Cloverdale had a combined score of 180, while Sullivan won the meet with a 175. Owen Valley finished third with 185 and White River Valley finished fourth with 228.

Chris Arnold led the Clovers, carding a 39, while Keith Hathorn shot a 43 and Mike Wellington finished with a 47. Gary Williams and Ryan Book both turned in 51 and Sam Jordan rounded out the Clovers scoring with a 52.

"Chris had a good round and is on the right track," CHS Coach Doug Wokoun. "Keith played well for the second consecutive round and seems to be solidifying his position.

"But we are still struggling and lacking consistency," Wokoun said. "This was a disappointment to us, because we thought we had some things worked out. Clearly right now we have a lot of work to do."

Cloverdale is back in action on Monday when it travels to West Vigo for a makeup match starting at 5 p.m.
