Mill Pond Health Campus appoints nurse mentors

Officials at Mill Pond Health Campus announced recently that Kerrie Rominger and Courtney Plessinger have been selected to serve as Nurse Mentors. Nurse Mentors were selected by the President and C.E.O. of Trilogy Health Services Randall Bufford based on letters of recommendation from a supervisor and co-worker. Criteria for selection included, attendance, length of service, recommendations, work performance and customer service skills exhibited on the job.

As part of their new mentor role, Kerrie and Courtney recently attended an extensive two-day training program in Oxford, Ohio with other nurses selected from Trilogy's 56 campuses. During the training program, the nurses were taught leadership excellence, customer service, managing conflict and understanding personality traits. The goal of the Nurse Mentor Initiative is to reduce nurse turnover, increase nurse job satisfaction, and improve delivery of services to the residents.

Rominger has been a life long resident of Putnam County. She has been employed at Mill Pond Health Campus for four years.

"I really enjoyed the Mentor training. The skills I learned will allow me to train new staff members, and be a leader," Rominger said.

"We had a great time in Ohio, even though the training was intense, and I know I will be a better Nurse. It's great to have an opportunity to advance my career as a L.P.N..," stated Plessinger.

Plessinger has worked in long-term care for seven years. She and her family reside in Greencastle.

Rominger and Plessinger were awarded with Nurse Mentor Certificate by the Chief Nursing Officer, Margie Polhamus, RN, LNCC, CCM, NHA. As Nurse Mentors for Mill Pond Health Campus, they will assist nursing management with all facets of operations including implementing clinical standards and service expectations, mentoring the nursing team and helping to orientate new nurses' to their position.
