KENT, Ohio -- Greencastle resident Shaye Painter has had photographs exhibited in a formal show even while a student at Kent State University.

As part of the official launch of the Web magazine Stories That Fly, photographs featured in the Web publication are on display in Franklin Hall, the home of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Kent State. The exhibit and Web magazine highlight various aspects of aviation.

The sophomore photojournalism major has a passion for photography and storytelling, she says.

"I've enjoyed photography all of my life, but began taking it more seriously my freshman year of high school," she said.

A Kent State professor encouraged Painter to get involved with Stories That Fly.

Painter's photographs go beyond the picture.

"I enjoyed taking the propeller photo because it brings two passions together; of the guy my story was about and I myself can relate to his love of hunting. The two men pushing the plane just was a really good moment," Painter said. "I like the feel of what is happening and what is being said by the photo and the mood it presents."

Stories that Fly is a Web magazine that provides a place for community members, students and professionals to share their stories of aviation in Ohio using words and images.
