Putnam County Sheriff's Department

A vehicle was stolen sometime after 10 p.m. Friday from a residential driveway on CR 300N near Fillmore.

The vehicle's owner didn't discover it missing until Saturday night. At approximately 11:50 p.m., a call was placed to the 911 dispatch center stating a silver 2009 Chevrolet HHR was missing from the driveway. The owner admitted to leaving the keys in the vehicle overnight.

Improper turning was determined to be the cause of a traffic accident Friday.

At 3:12 p.m., James Wade of Quincy was making a turn onto CR 1300S from U.S. 231 when he took the corner too sharp causing his pick-up truck to strike a second vehicle at the intersection.

The bed of Wade's truck struck the front of the second vehicle driven by Aaron Kimbrell of Greencastle. Kimbrell stated she had just purchased her vehicle and did not have insurance for it.

She was cited for operating without financial responsibility. Neither vehicle was towed. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Cheydelle Simpson, Colfax, was traveling on US 36 west when a deer entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid a collision. Her vehicle was not towed from the scene. The accident occurred at 12:25 p.m. Saturday. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Jesse McKinney, Greencastle, was stopped at the corner of CR 700E and S.R. 240 at 6:32 p.m. Friday when he backed up his vehicle to make room for a vehicle turning north.

McKinney did not see a vehicle being driven by Joan Osborn of Fillmore behind him at the stop sign. McKinney's vehicle struck the front of Osborn's vehicle causing substantial damage, according to the accident report.

No injuries were reported and neither vehicle was towed. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Putnam County Jail

Ronald Flaurr, 48, Crawfordsville, was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday for probation violation.

Troy Roberts, 20, Indianapolis, was booked at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday for probation violation.

Darrell Goff, 30, Coatesville, was booked at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday for battery.

John Gaston, 36, Greencastle, was booked at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication.

Greencastle Fire Department

Fire Chief Bill Nugent responded to an accident site on U.S. 231 and U.S. 36 at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday. A semi-tractor trailer overturned while carrying hazardous material. Crews were on stand by for Hazmat. Nugent was at the scene until 1:52 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 109 W. Hannah St. at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday for a fire alarm. They were disregarded en route and back in service at 4:56 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 46 Briarwood Drive at 12:02 p.m. Wednesday for a lift assist with Putnam County Operation Life. They were back in service at 12:17 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to Harrison Hall, 7 E. Larabee St., at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday for a fire alarm. Nothing was found and they were back in service at 2:33 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to the Putnam County Jail at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday for a fire alarm. They were disregarded in route and back in service at 3:27 p.m.
